Why are you against the option?
Nebraska won national titles with the option. Army just had a 10 win season with option. Navy was in the NY6 and conference title hunt with the option and put up 49 pts in their bowl game. Ga Tech won the Orange Bowl in 2014 with the option.
BYU succeeded in the 70's and 80's with a gimmick offense. Maybe BYU would be better off going with a gimmick offense again, especially with an independent schedule.
