UTEP (with Haskins), New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah (mid major as it was) was pretty good basketball. Were we ever once concerned with the out of league game against Pacific, Pepperdine or Santa Clara?? I just can’t believe we’re in a spot where we have to bring our “A game” to beat these types of teams. We never would have lost to those teams back then outside of a crazy upset...now it happens 3-4 times a year. Granted basketball is different, shots go in sometimes and small teams like Gonzaga can carve out a niche but it’s still pretty crazy in my eyes.
