There is a family in my town that makes a career out of panhandling. That in and of itself is a bit frustrating to me.
These aren’t the “sleep under an overpass” type panhandlers. They drive a car and I would assume that they have an apartment to go to. All this in spite of the fact that the labor market in my area is good.

Here’s the thing i find really infuriating though. They have like 4 or 5 children that they make sit all day on the corner with them. The kids hold the signs. Yesterday I drove past them and their 12/13 year old boy was holding the sign. He joins them after school.

I can’t fathom my boys not seeing me work. I can’t imagine how difficult life will be for that boy, who is learning at this impressionable age that the deck is stacked against him and his lot in life is to beg for scraps from others. So sad.
