CB attorneys! I need help with medical billing.
BM for further details, but suffice it to say that we are receiving letters from an old insurance company demanding money for services they paid out on services charged by a home medical company well after we terminated coverage with them. We told the home medical company about the change as soon as we terminated. Furthermore, we had two insurances at the time, so the home health company should have charged the other one, but continued billing the old insurance. Stupidly so, apparently the old insurance kept paying them even after we terminated coverage - their own letters even say so.

Lastly, these are all services 4-5 years old (as we understand it outside the StoL for Utah making this all time-barred.) However, the insurance company claims they were "federal funds" and not subject to the StoL. As far as I can find from the FTC, this isn't the case under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)

The insurance company claims they went to collections with the home health guys, but that the home health company refused to pay. Apparently we are now being taken to collections, I just buried my daughter, being hit with this crap right now is not something I can handle. Any and all help would be thoroughly appreciated - especially anyone who specializes in medical/insurance law.
