I think you are a level headed guy who just got caught up in the emotion of trying to protect your niece. I think that some have given some good feedback to you here and that should suffice. If you still feel you have to respond to this situation, I would choose a much more even keeled approach. But I applaud you for remaining non combative in your responses (at least the ones I read).
