Jerry Rice could split his career into 2 and they would both be HOF worthy. However, there is one rule change that both

explains why no receiver will ever match his totals again, and at the same time makes his performance all the more impresseive.

With the advent of the defensive holding rules and the harsher enforcement of PI, it's made it easier for multiple receivers to get open on a play. Meaning the ball gets spread around now too much. But considering Jerry was able to do that despite those rules is even more impressive. 

Randy Moss is a close second for me though.
