1). Worries over compliance with the Honor Code & gpa requirements
2). Some GA's were upset with the image Portrayed by others that we were bringing thugs into the program. They were scarred with the image of a muscular, fully tattooed Rafael Araujo towering over a cowering UNLV player he'd taken down with hard foul...."oh my gosh, that's not our image, we don't want that kind of thing representing our program! We need to Foster the Devin Durrant & Jimmer Fredette look"
3). Our coaching staff simply don't want to expend the energy it takes to bring in foreign players, even though we naturally have better international contacts than anyone else in the WCC
As much as it pains me to say it, with today's seeming recruiting philosophy, we would likely never have gotten Kresmir Cosic (retired jersey), Timo Saarelainen (all wac first team), or maybe even Danny Ainge because he was no choir boy, just a hard nosed ruthless competitor. These are just a couple example that come to mind, two of which you'll notice, were beloved all-time players whose jerseys are hanging in the Marriott Center rafters.
