And that proves my point. The top 2 in the WCC are typically slightly better than the MW but the MW is stronger from 3-8. After the top 3 in the WCC you have Pacific, Santa Clara, San Diego, and San Francisco this year. In the MW you have New Mexico, UNLV, Wyoming, and San Diego State. There isn't even a comparison between those groupings. The average ranking of those WCC teams in KenPom is 173. The average of those MW teams is 95. KenPom currently has the MW as the 8th best conference and the WCC as the 11th best. It doesn't matter that there are 2 good teams on top if everyone else sucks. This is why teams like Butler and Wichita State have moved on to greener pastures.
