Anyone else have issues with a kid that is constantly using the excuse that
his/her leg hurts or some other generic "pain" that only seems to arise when they are asked to do something they don't want to but it magically goes away when wanting to do something fun?

Our daughter is in kindergarten and we found out a few weeks ago that she had been complaining that her leg hurt everytime she had to go to PE. We only found out after the PE teacher sent a note home saying she wasn't going to meet the requirements for PE since she would never participate because of her hurt leg. We addressed the issue with her and haven't heard of any problems in PE since.

She is a huge drama queen. Any amount of pain, intended pain, or blood results in an end-of-world melt-down. All of our kids have had growing pains at various times and those are to be expected. But this is different.

It is as though she has done it so often and for so long that she has convinced herself that it is real. She will complain that her leg hurts to the point that she will literally army crawl around the house instead of trying to limp or walk. It almost always happens when it is time to clean up or do chores of some kind. We have witnessed the pain instantly change from one leg to another. There is never a specific point of pain. And then when it is time to go out or do something fun it is as though there was never anything wrong to begin with. But the amazing thing is to what lengths she will go to keep the delusion going. It has gotten so bad that we really just have no idea if she is hurt or not. She could actually break her leg at some point and we wouldn't know the difference.

A couple nights ago she was complaining that her ear hurt. This seems plausible since we have all been fighting a cold for the past two weeks that just won't quit. Today the nurse called from school saying that her leg and her ear are hurting. We don't know whether to tell them to just ignore it or to do something. It's driving us crazy.
