OK, you are saying that BYU has unique religious limitations and
oh, by the way, our team isn’t very good, so we will have a hard time recruiting in the MWC.
Those two factors would be a problem even if BYU was in the SEC.
Why would an LDS kid who wanted to go to BYU for religious reasons care if they are in the MWC or Indy?
Show me the non-LDS kid who wants to get crushed by the Wisconsin and LSU’s of the world, there is no status in that. It just puts BYU in the group of G5 and FCS teams who get stomped on for a payday.

You're right. But in order to try to keep up, Indy is better due to the schedules it offers to kids. And $$ to BYU.
