I think he is saying the opposite. His gut doesn't go to a pre determined

factor like you have pointed out that you would do. I have to agree with ChiCity, making decisions on insignificant or intangibles that the candidates can't control really limits what your "gut" can tell you. If anyone were to hire the white Mormon dude, when all things are considered equal, just because they were that is just as prejudiced as you are.
