The only reason that Gonzaga has the brand that they do, is not winning the
WCC every year and going to the tourney, that is like winning the Patriot League every year, it is getting in the tournament and winning games, advancing. Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4, etc. Doing it on the big stage is what gets them the respect and clout to schedule and play big OOC games at their place.
If BYU stays in Gonzaga-less WCC, beats St Mary’s, and goes to the tourney and is a one and done how much clout will that buy BYU?

It's a reasonable request by Gonzaga but one I assume the small athletic programs of the WCC can't live with.
