I think there are 2 big differences here. First, you saw people making a big
deal out of it because the process was so public with the Big 12. It was basically an audition and everyone knew who the candidates were. That allowed for groups to do what they did
Second, I think BYU would bring a lot more to the table for the AAC than they do for the BIg 12. Getting BYU isn't some massive "get" for the Big 12, so it stands to reason that they wouldn't want to deal with it. I think the AAC would be willing to deal with it because BYU would be a big "get" for them
