As I previously posted, I have been in a few meetings where the AAC
commissioner and AD's from UConn, East Carolina and UCF have reinforced the fact that BYU holds an open invitation to join the AAC. IF, BYU did make the move, it would be very beneficial for BYU to take BSU, SDSU and UNLV with them to the AAC. By doing so, the AAC would then be able to align divisions as such:

East:
Cincinnati
East Carolina
Memphis
Navy
Temple
UCF
UConn'
USF

West:
BYU
BSU
Houston
SDSU
SMU
Tulane
Tulsa
UNLV (Adding UNLV and SDSU could possibly land the conference an additional bowl spot or two (Las Vegas and if SDSU creates another bowl) while keeping the geography tight for travel. I recognize schools do not own bowls, but they help with encouraging tie-ins).

However, BSU would have some issues like BYU to overcome (ESPN contract for both schools - predominate issue. For BSU add no more blue uniforms on the smurf turf - remember the first time BSU was negotiating with the AAC that was one requirement that they couldn't wear blue uniforms on their blue turf. The MWC agreed to allow BSU to wear blue on blue).

Avoiding quads like the old WAC, the ACC's two divisions will save on travel costs for the non-revenue sports. They can play a league schedule within their division with cross-overs games. Thus, creating two divisional champions in each sport for the championship game. It's not perfect, but what system is realistic perfect?
