You have to seperate today's college football landscape from 10-15-20 years ago
It is not as easy to schedule those games against big time P5 schools anymore as a G5. Especially not at home. Moving to a G5 would make it much more difficult to schedule these games for a myriad of reasons.

One main difference is that P5 conferences consider independent BYU a P5 game, so it is easier to schedule us

Exactly my point. By moving to ANY G5, our ability to schedule meaningful P5 games is greatly reduced
