Coach Kalani Sitake said the defense bounced back today at BYU spring practice after the offense got the upper hand last Thursday. Mentioned that projected starting LBs didn't play in scrimmage last week.

Tanner Mangum joined the other QBs for work in the 7 on 7 stuff, with mixed results -- he made some excellent throws but also overthrew guys a couple times.
Looks like redshirt freshman Zach Katoa is really emerging at running back; Katoa, Riley Burt, Austin Kafentzis and Kavika Fonua saw the most snaps in the 11 on 11. Squally Canada didn't get any reps in the media viewing portion of practice.
Zach Wilson again shined in 11 on 11, throwing some nice passes to Matt Bushman, Tariq Buchanan and Inoke Lotulelei. However, after a long Wilson run, he returned quickly to the huddle and was picked off by Matthew Criddle on the next play.
Receivers coach Fesi Sitake said that junior Micah Simon is the alpha dog of the receiving corps, has taken on a leadership role; recent signee Gunner Rommey, the prep phenom from Arizona, watched practice today because he's on spring break.
Another interested observer at BYU spring practice: former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Bevell, who has a daughter on BYU's softball team, spent time after practice talking to OC Jeff Grimes and QBs coach Aaron Roderick.
