Thanks. SDSU, UNM, and UNLV were within $5Million of BYU in 2008, NOW

the gap is $16Million for SDSU, $26Million for UNM and $27Million for UNLV.  More than half again as much as the total revenue for UNLV and UNM.  From a revenue standpoint, BYU would be suicidal to rejoin the MWC.  And, I predict that this revenue gap grows dramatically after the next football TV contract is finalized for BYU.

Not sure how to feel about the job Tom Holmoe has done supporting Football and Basketball since BYU went Indy, but I do know that Holmoe has done a great job lining up very desirable home opponents that should draw $4-5Million each in TV revenues against opponents like Washington, USC, Utah, and Boise St., all at home in 2019 - with a game against Tennessee on the road.  Holmoe has been scheduling to maximize TV dollars for the next contract (meaning willing to play more away games now before next TV deal kicks in for return games in Provo after new TV contract).  I can alread hear Holmoe negotiating that home games against USC, Washington, Utah and Boise St. will all draw as many eyeballs as games in the P12 and therefore BYU should get equivalent money or more than the current P12 contract.

The time may come that BYU should legitimately consider a G5 affiliation, but that won't come until after the next TV contract is inked.  If BYU can get P5 TV money, then it will be clear that BYU should stay Indy.
