I've heard a few credible media people say they're nearly certain Wilson will emerge as the starter.
I understand Critchlow had a nice spring game but that doesn't necessarily put him at the top of the list. The entire spring camp Critchlow has been described as "adequate" or "not making a lot of mistakes", but never as a playmaker. Which is pretty much how I'd describe his play in those three or so games last year.
I actually think their approach is good, whether or not they're doing it strategically, already having a starter in mind. Whether it's truly a wide open competition or not, it promotes competitive behavior and will help instill some urgency to the offensive half of the team.
