He would have have extensive OL experience and one year as OC on a bad team that gets the HC fired? I like Grimes, but I don't see that as a strong enough resume to be the next HC.

I think we got Sitake under similar circumstances (one year removed from basically being KW's understudy with a DC title) because he was considered a high-potential LDS coach and the LDS HC coaching tree is pretty bare right now. If the church somehow decided to add a non-LDS coach (I think chances are very slim) I hope it would be a candidate with a better coordinator/HC record than Grimes as of next year.
