One problem with boarding back to front is that some people will put their bags in the front, then move to the back and then when the front people come in, they have to go to the back to store their bags.

Another thing is that the airlines give seating as a customer loyalty reward.  I always book an aisle seat, but if I were a medaillion member, I would not want to have to scramble to find a place for my bag.
