Maybe you tend to overgeek things, but I don't find myself applying cost/benefit
analysis to something as simple as backing into a parking space. I've been doing it for a long time and it is pretty second nature, like parallel parking, or driving a stick. You'll think I'm making this up, but I had a guy back into me last year as I drove through a parking lot, and my wife had the same happen to her just last month. In my case, my car is a few years old, and not really worth repairing. The damage wasn't bad, and only minor cosmetic, so the $1800 check I got from the guy's insurance company amounted to a nice unexpected Christmas bonus!
