Football is a tough contact sport. Injuries are inevitable at some time, unless players shy from contact, but I think injuries are more bad luck than anything else. Poor conditioning and poor technique can certainly make one more prone to injuries, but Beau Hoge is certainly not poorly conditioned, and technique has little do with getting blind-sided by a massive Dlineman, or head-flapping on the turf. Scientifically speaking, forces, momentum, angles, and vectors (which all amount to bad luck) have more to do with injuries than anything else.
That being said, there are obviously players who are "prone" to concussions, but given that almost all football players suffer a concussion at least sometime during HS and / or college careers, does not mean that almost all players are also concussion "prone." And, having one or two close together does not necessarily define someone as "prone" to concussions either. Now if Hoge gets another concussion with minimal contact this year, it'll start to look a little more concerning.
