NCAA working group proposes to eliminate need of coach’s permission to transfer.
The Transfer Rule Working Group met over the weekend and proposed to eliminate a coach's ability to block a transfer, even within a conference.
Under the proposal, an athlete would notify the school, in writing, the intent to transfer. The athlethe’s name would then be placed in a national data bank which other schools can then peruse. It would, for all intents, re-open the athlete’s recruiting.
The minimum GPA for undergraduate transfers would be 3.0. The athlete would also need to be in good academic standing and be on track to graduate within 5 years of enrollment.
