many of the players don't care nearly as much as us fans do. It surprises me that so many star players are willing to forgo years of college eligibility to instead go sit on the bench in the NBA, or kick around the D-league, or disappear overseas where nobody cares.
I understand the high-level guys at a place like Duke who leave school early because they are guaranteed first-round draft picks, but it bothers me seeing guys like Eric Mika and Elijah Bryant who walk away with much less incentive to do so.
I know this is CB, so obviously there will always be a chorus of people shouting that money is the only thing that matters, but to me the chance to be college basketball superstar seems almost priceless. I can't imagine any circumstance in which I would be willing to trade a year as a star player at BYU for a year making $70k playing in tiny gyms in Europe, with fans who don't know you and teammates who don't care about you at all.
But that's just me - I guess BYU basketball means more to me than it does to some of these other guys. Maybe I'm just taking it too seriously.
