Finished binging seasons 1 and 2 of Broadchurch last night (SPOILERS)
I wish we had more series like this in America - with a long story arc that is actually going somewhere and actually comes to an ending that makes sense. I thought the story of the first two seasons was very compelling and it felt realistic to me. I was going to say it was realistic, but I've never really followed a murder investigation and trial in enough detail to be any kind of expert. It showed how everyone had human weaknesses, but most were good people in spite of it.

Joe Miller was obviously guilty, yet I probably would have voted to acquit him had I been on the jury. It showed how people jump to conclusions and form mobs like they did against the guy that played Filch in Harry Potter. Humanity has such a strong need to have an explanation and a target of anger when tragedy strikes that history is filled with examples of the wrong person being convicted by public opinion.

I thought David Tennat (the second modern Doctor from Doctor Who) was really good. Seeing him and Filch in different roles was interesting.

One seeming plot hole was I felt like a real murder investigation would have zeroed in on the cocaine and 500 Euros found under the bed a lot earlier and a lot more than they seem to have done.

The language was a touch more than I would like and there were a couple of quick PG-13 skin scenes that added nothing in terms of plot or titillation. Other than that, I would recommend the series.

It seems like a new story begins in season 3. Is that right?
