I have a connection to the East football program who predicted about five months ago (I haven't spoken to him about the East football team since then) that Ika would back off of his BYU commitment soon because he has stars in his eyes. He said that at that time Ika really liked Washington, Alabama, and Ohio State (who I don't think has offered him or even shown much interest in him). The guy said that Ika loved BYU growing up and that his family likes BYU and the coaching staff a lot but that Ika seemed to want to "go big time." He said that BYU rebounding this year would likely give BYU a chance to hang onto him but that Ika seemed to be looking elsewhere. He predicted that Ika would end up at Washington unless Alabama or Ohio State offered (at that time Alabama had not offered yet), with BYU having a decent shot at him.

For what it's worth, the guy also predicted a few other things with members of the East football program that happened. For example, he predicted Tausinga would choose BYU, that Tennessee Pututau would pick Utah, and that Sam Taimani would choose Washington over Utah and Notre Dame. 

Don't know if that helps any. Hopefully BYU can rebound this year and Ika's growing up loving the Cougs can give us a real shot. Conover has said in the past that he wanted to commit early so he can help recruit players to come play with him. Not sure how much of a difference that could make in this case but a bigtime prospect like Conover could be beneficial that way...
