I'll respectfully disagree...
Any PAC team, aside from Wazzu and OSU, playing OU or Texas is a potential prime-time matchup. The same cannot be said for any PAC team playing Colorado or Utah. Is some of that "east coast bias"? Sure it is. But, to ignore that fact and pretend you have the ability to play hardball with someone who's holding four aces smacks of the same arrogance that many have accused BYU of having. OU and Texas didn't need the PAC. The PAC badly needed them.

The PAC had ONE first chance to not only get OU and Texas but to extend its reach to the central time zone all at the same time. In the same way, the PAC had ONE first chance to get into all the homes on DirecTV. IMO, this is no different from the fact that BYU had ONE chance (the first time around-I don't think the Big12 was serious with anyone the second time) to get into the Big12.

The PAC should have done just about anything to get OU and Texas. The PAC should have done just about anything to get on DirecTV. BYU should have done anything, except for Sunday play, to get into the Big12. In all three cases, the PAC and BYU played hardball. In all three cases, the "team" that played hardball lost.
