Money and viewership wise basketball is like 10x as popular.

I like hockey though. Definitely a good sport. I think some of the changes mentioned in the post above this would help. Doing everything on the same schedule as the NBA doesn't make a lot of sense. I still think it isn't the greatest TV sport and that hurts it as well. Also the fact that most people will have never played it, while everyone has shot and dribbled a basketball. I kind of think games are a little long as well. I'd rather watch sports the lean closer to the 2 hour mark.
