Don’t waste your time on a half day trip, unless you want to catch a lot of rockfish. We’ve done a lot tuna trips, and have been skunked more often than not. My best trip I got three albacore.

I also went out on a 3 day trip on the Top Gun 80 back in 2014. It’s a boat I had seen come back with lots of fish when I went on previous trips. There was a big storm over the fishing grounds and we ended up spending two days looking for jack squat and a full day fishing for freaking rock fish. It sucked.

I also noted that the boats don’t call in catch reports at all when they have bad trips. My 3 day trip was never reported, they just pretended the trip didn’t exist. At least they had unlimited Mtn Dew on the boat and DirecTv to stream the World Cup.
