I feel bad for students with debt, but so many of them seem to be living in
an alternate reality. For example, my husband has a degree that is generally considered a useless degree. However, he was a very competitive student, and has some unique work experience prior to college that have allowed him to actually make good use of it. Let me be clear, he worked really hard to get his job. I'm always shocked by how many people with average grades, no work experience, and seemingly no ambition tell him that they're getting the same degree because "I want to do something similar to what you do. I think that would be awesome." They really don't get it. You're not getting that kind of a job, because there are thousands of people that think it sounds cool, and you did nothing to set yourself apart from the crowd.

Another example, I know an individual in his mid-twenties, still taking a few classes here and there who up until a year or two ago earnestly believed that he had a shot at someday becoming an astronaut. No military experience, no flight school, no degree, just "that sounds awesome, I would love to be an astronaut some day when I get around to actually finishing up whatever degree seems kind of easy." Not a joke. His back up plan was architect.

I don't know why, but the college campuses seem to be full of these sorts of students that dream big, but then that's kind of all they end up doing is dreaming. So many of them would have been better off in trade schools, or even no school just to keep themselves out of debt.
