There are several problems with large houses:
1) they cost more
2) they cost more to maintain
3) utilities cost more
4) takes more time to clean
5) kids are temporary in any household...when they are gone, the big house sits empty
the only real plus I have ever seen is that if you are really lucky you buy one when the market is low and sell at the peak and take $500K in tax free money
