party every year on Memorial Day. I usually volunteer with my HCBW to watch the pool with all of the kids in it. I do this because I know how stressed my mom gets with a lot of kids in the water. She trusts me as the lifeguard more than some other people in the ward. I was keeping my eye on a 6 or 7 year old boy who I could tell was not confident in the water. He was holding on to the wall and would let go only to quickly grab the wall again. I was just about to suggest to his mother (who was also watching her kids) that he put on one of the many life vests my parents have. I saw him let go of the wall and drift a little too far from it. He only got out a 'mo' before he went under. I was only 10 feet away and in half a second I was in the water pulling him up. I beat his mom there by a heart beat. He coughed a few times but no damage done. He wore a life vest the rest of the day. I am grateful both me and his mom were watching the water.
Thanks for posting the link. I was not aware of any of that. I will for sure keep that in mind at the beach and pool this summer.
