I'm a researcher who does a lot with sanitation in developing countries. Working on a study right now and have descriptions of and even pictures of maybe 20,000 toilets from 11 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and southeast Asia. Most LMIC countries I've worked in have high prevalence of diarrhea, just a tiny hole in the ground/slab that they have to aim that diarrhea into, and they often don't have any anal cleansing materials near the latrines, so there are feces everywhere on the floors, walls, and doors of these toilets.
