could have productive careers, but Walker hasn't put it all together, and Marte has struggled with the jump to MLB. He's still only 24, has a really low strike out rate, and is getting more power (already more HR than any year in his minor league career). Don't know if his defense has improved. He made a few silly mistakes, but flashed some really good defense at times. Also, Segura only had 1-2 more years of control, so resigning him was a big deal to turn that trade in the Mariners favor.
That trade does make up for some of the duds that Dipoto has had, and the trade for Gonzales is looking really good as well right now. You knew that O'Neill was never going to be a Mariner, just not a Dipoto type of player. I thought they sold low on him, but they bought Gonzales really low. Leake trade was a great one as well.
