Mrs Featerbottom All-American
A year ago yesterday I had quite a wild ride
I was working a job that i HATED and lined up a job interview at a firm I was REALLY excited about. But, at the old job, I was incredibly underwater. I was really worried I'd raise suspicion by missing a day of work. And I hadn't slept much that week because I worked so much.

Anyway, I flew in and landed at 10:00 p.m. By the time I got to the hotel and showered, it's around 12:15. I decided to get my clothes ready the night before, so per my custom, put my suit and white shirt in the bathroom, turned on the shower, and closed the door to get the wrinkles out.

I sat down to do some work on my laptop, and I just couldn't stay awake. I fell asleep after five minutes with all of the lights on. Four hours later, I woke up and heard the shower running. It's like 4:30 in the morning at this point. The bathroom floor is covered in water and my suit and shirt are soaking wet. I thought I'd ruined my suit, and it was a Hugo Boss so I was none too pleased. But I also needed a suit to wear in like four hours!!

First things first, I used all of the hotel towels to dry the bathroom floors. I opened the windows and bathroom door to get all the steam out.

I honestly had no idea what to do. My first thought was to uber out to Walmart - they're 24 hours. But the nearest Walmart was like 25 minutes away. Maybe Target? They didn't open until 9:00 and my interview as at 10:00. Maybe if I got there right at 9:00, I could buy a suit and make it back by 10:00.

Those were subpar options, obviously.

So I spent 4:30-7:00 a.m. carefully ironing my suit to evaporate the water. Unbelievably, it worked. I just had to go slowly to not burn the suit. I didn't need to go to Walmart or Target after all! Then my shirt - that one was easy. And finally my tie. My suit smelled vaguely of wet wool even though dry, but only if you were really close to it.

But I was going to an interview on 4 hours sleep. I grabbed two bottles of five hour energy. I popped one 30 minutes before the first set of interviews. I popped the other during a bathroom break after the interviews and before lunch.

All in all, it was a home run. It was a little hard to keep my focus because I kept thinking about how my suit was soaking wet just hours before, and now here I am pretending to be a civilized gentleman. But by Monday morning, I got word that an offer was coming. And two days later, it did. I still haven't told my colleagues but maybe I should.
