Started merging into right lane of highway come out lane was ending. She signals, starts moving left, I turn on my signal, check my mirror, quickly check my blind spot and see that it’s open, look up in front and suddenly she is back squarely in front of me with brake lights on.

I slammed my brakes but could stop in time.

Seriously crazy how quickly it happens. Quick look in mirror and blind spot and then car stopped in front.

The driver of the car in front of her told me he almost hit the car in front of him before she hit him and that several cars pulled off the road to the right to avoid hitting people in front of them. This was all just before I hit the girl in front of me.

Sucks to have my first accident in over a decade and knowing that it’s pretty much always the fault of the guy in the rear, but everyone walked away ok and hopefully no lingering affects for people.

I assume it will all come back on me, but honestly wasn’t tailing super close and just going through the motions of driving to work like I do every single day without issue.

Anyone been the guy in the back that started a chain reaction rear ending like that?
