In addition, my nephew did the padded high school camp.
Our experience has been good. The camps are generally pretty basic, especially considering the large numbers of kids they accommodate.
Baseball in particular has been well run.
In addition to the large summer camps my kids have done the smaller winter camps for baseball. Those have been really well done.
If you are expecting your kid to be personally coached up by Kalani, that isnt going to happen. But the coaches have always made an effort to connect with the kids, my older son had great experiences with Ty Detmer and Tanner Mangum.
The players that help out with the camp have always been awesome, my kids have loved getting to know them and learn from them.
In summary, if you want to go get a little coaching and enjoy the BYU experience, the camps are perfect for that. Obviously, this mindset isn’t universal (I would maybe feel differently if my kid were a high school aged athlete with aspirations of playing college ball). Also, my experience is anecdotal, other camps and sessions may not be done well.
All in all, it gives my kids a taste of what BYU is all about, really appreciate that opportunity (especially because we live out of state).
