My summary: Great experience, marginal skill improvement. As it should be.

Kids have months with their HS coaches with significantly more individualized attention.  A handful of extra practices is not going to make a significant difference to the vast majority of participants.

However, the Experience should not be undervalued.  It was one of the most memorable weeks of my life.  It was basically like an EFY, except replace lessons/talks with playing sports.  So the schedule is basically

1) All you can eat buffet in a cafeteria half filled with LDS girls

2) A couple of hours of fun practice and competition.  No conditioning, just the fun stuff for the most part.

3) All you can eat lunch, again in a cafeteria half filled with LDS girls.

4) More fun practice, often including competitions and tournaments.

5) All you can eat Dinner, again with the LDS girls

6) Dances or other fun activities with large quantities of LDS girls.

As a 15 year old boy, what more could one wish for?  My biggest take away from camp was: "BYU is Awesome"

That is honestly the #1 thing I would want my kids to learn at sports camp.
