He said it was because Tanner didn’t have to compete for the starting job. Said that Tanner was just handed the position as soon as Taysom was gone, and this caused him to become somewhat “distracted”. He talked about how not having competition slowed Hoge’s progression, as well. Kalani stressed that never again will a position just be handed to someone.
It was interesting hearing Kalani be so candid about a player and what held him back.
