Don't do it... Unless you already love dogs.

We did exactly what you are suggesting. With the idea the dog would be out of years by the time that last child was ready to graduate from High School. My wife and I are not dog lovers. We patiently wait to be done with the dog. (Three of our four kids do really love that dog though...)
