and may not have it right, but if I recall it wasn't the PAC 12 who had a deadline or cut it off. IIRC, because of the bid the Big 12 schools were able to leverage that for an update to the deals they had with Fox/ESPN to the benefit of a few of the bigger schools. So they cut off the discussions. However, within a year of that A&M wanted out because of the inequality and the power Texas exercised over time and during those negotiations.
