The takeaway from this piece is how far apart the PAC and UT were
Scott has intimated multiple times that the PAC16 proposed by UT was never as close to a reality as reported/speculated.

The PAC wanted to go to 14 with UT, A&M, OU, and CU. The PAC never wanted OSU and TTU.

Texas used the need of their imminent departure to get what they wanted out of the BigXII. BYU played a role here as UT’s scheduling announcement with newly Indy BYU was also a ploy to make the threat of going independent (another negotiating tactic) more plausible.

Texas was sort of the bad guy in all of this.
