Sounds like Colorado was Utah’s meal ticket as much as anything. Hill saw that Colorado was the no brainer addition to the conference, so he positioned Utah to be their +1.

It sounds like only reason the Pac-12 approached Utah was because they were partners with Colorado, who was the primary target. Utah was not in a position to say “Let’s add us and BYU.” It was more Colorado that said “Let’s add us and Utah” except it was Chris Hill who was actually doing the talking on behalf of Colorado because the optics would have looked bad if Colorado was there doing the talking.
