He had his quirks and struggled a little with recruiting, but had great leadership and a very good football mind. He botched the Heaps/Nelson scenerio (as did Heaps) which caused a couple years of grief (especially as it came to recruiting QBs), but overall, he was great for BYU.

His quirkiness and bluntness didn't always sit well with the fans.
