Whoever is 2nd string will likely start the last 9 games anyway.
The first 3 games will be brutal, and coaches/fans are dumb enough that they’ll probably view those games in a vacuum and then think they somehow solved something when the backup QB comes in and magically looks better against weaker competition.
That’s my prediction FWIW. If I’m a BYU QB competing for playing time this year, I’m secretly hoping that I get named the primary backup cause then I’m more than likely to play most of the season.
