I think I initially misunderstood your comment.
I'm not sure if you're trying to say college Utah culture is the problem or "townie" Utah culture is the problem.
From my experience, townie Utah culture is the worst.
I'm someone who's only time in Utah was my 4 years at BYU. I really liked Utah while I was there, considered possibly looking for a job there after graduation, up until I attended a few family wards outside of Utah county. Holy crap, I could never in my life live there. Mind you, I came in wanting to love it, but it was just awful.
