I have been up to RES for over the past 20 years...
I have had guys that have tried to grope my wife as we walked past (clearly drunk), had multiple people try to offer me alcohol in a taunting, mocking way knowing full well we don't drink, multiple crazy guys who have yelled stuff about the church/missionaries, little kids that have flipped us off with their parents just laughing at it, fans getting right up in my face and not leaving yelling and swearing as I have been walking back to my car, and had all kinds of stuff yelled at me going to and from the stadium.

On the other hand, I have also met some of the nicest people including a guy with a painted face and full on Ute head gear that welcomed me to the stadium and was one of the nicest guy I think I have met at the place. I happened to have my face painted as well for that game (this was several years back when I was still in college) and we both were interviewed by a local news reporter that was there on site at the stadium and we had fun going back and forth. I have been greeted several times by fans with handshakes and welcoming me to the stadium. I have had fun banter going back and forth with countless fans that are really good sports and just good people. Fans have offered to take pictures of our group before and ask if we need anything at all. I have sat at the top of the MUSS section with BYU gear on and had all the students around me treat me with class and I had an awesome time.

Even with the bad fans I encounter up at RES, I continue to go each year. I choose to not let a few idiot fans ruin my experience and I am really convinced that most people up there are good fans. I know several season ticket holders that are just awesome people. Just like at our place, we occasionally have dumb fans do or say stupid things...so does Utah. One thing that does make it worse at Utah, in my opinion, is the alcohol in the tailgates and any that happens to get snuck in by people (I know it happens because I sat next to a guy that kept dumping some into a stadium cup he bought at one of the games I was at). This does happen all over the country and isn't just a Utah thing, though. You don't have that issue at BYU because we obviously have much fewer fans that actually drink.
