Robert Carr Chapel

was constructed by Texas Christian University in 1952 and opened at Texas Christian University in 1954 thanks to a generous donation from a west Texas oilman - Robert C. Carr.  Owned and operated by Texas Christian University ever since, it was extensively renovated in 2017 and has been the host and destination for countless weddings and other events of all faiths for over half a century (Texas Christian Univeristy students get a discount if they get married there). Its spires and architecture contain elements from many American influences, but it is expecially noted for its neo-colonial style because of Mary Sadler, the then-wife of the Chancellor at Texas Christian University.  Carr Chapel is also used extensively by Brite Divinity School, the seminary located at Texas Christian University, which has maintained a strong affiliation with Texas Christian University since its founding.

As a pre-eminent religious venue at Texas Christian University located squarely in the middle of the campus at Texas Christian University, Carr Chapel has hosted and continues to host multitudinous events and services for students and staff of Texas Christian University, including weekly chapel services, weekly mass for Catholics at Texas Christian University, it serves as the host for Texas Christian University's numerous religious organizations, including those of the Disciples of Christ and the Baptist Student Union.  A quick look at this week's calendar includes a special service for U.S. POW's/MIA's of those affiliated with Texas Christian University and various events associated with the beginning of the fall semester at Texas Christian University, including numerous Texas Christian University student organizations.

Carr Chapel plays an integral role in religious life at Texas Christian University.  Large enough to contain classrooms, it is the place that most Texas Christian University students take their required religious courses as part of the core curriculum at Texas Christian University.  With excellent acoustics, it also serves as the host of many performances by Texas Christian University musicians and in the past, hosted events for the prestigious Van Cliburn piano competition, which has been hosted by Texas Christian Univeristy for decades.  Carr Chapel's official name is "Robert Carr Chapel at Texas Christian University."
