One of my biggest concerns with the hiring of Grimes was that he'd never been an offensive coordinator despite being an offensive coach for 16 years. Usually when guys show a lot of promise as playcallers or potential offensive coordinators, someone gives them a shot long before that. Part of my worry was a concern about him never having designed and implemented an offense of his own would bite BYU this year. If what Hoge is saying is true, that kind of confirms my fear.

I hope that this is just Merrill being an angry dad and nothing else, but the dude knows football. He's forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know. Color me worried.
