One of the reasons that his players eat, breathe and sleep football is because Saban set that expectation at every school he has been to. I'm not saying that BYU can support that kind of approach, but the results are obvious. Players go to Alabama play for Saban, not because he's a nice guy because he's not, they go there to win championships and get to the NFL. Players did the same thing when he was at LSU.
That model doesn't work in the NFL because players are free agents, have contracts that prevent them from being subject to the kind of expectations that a college kid has to deal with. The NFL versus College comparison is off. I agree that Saban is an amazing recruiter, but a large part of that is because of what he does with the players who come to play for them.
